My Monday Fav on Etsy!

Today I'm starting a new feature on my blog where every Monday, I pick one of my favorite items or sellers on Etsy to share with you.  No rhyme or reason - except it is just fabulous handmade or vintage stuff that I love!  I hope you love it too.  ~ Sandie

I adore this photo print, by Lauren, of LeapingGazelle!  It's sweetness and whimsical nature just speaks to me.  I hope you will stop by Lauren's shop and browse her stunning photography and let it speak to you too.

I made it to the Front Page of Etsy! (...well, my scarf did)

I was so tickled to find out that this afternoon an Etsy Treasury that one of my hand knitted scarves was featured in, was featured on the front page of Etsy!  It's always such a thrill to see one of your handmade items in such a place of distinction.  :o)  Here's the FP screen capture (of this very beautiful treasury!):

And here is the widget from Craft Vault that allows you to see each item, up close and personal!

It's in the bag!! (and it's a good deal!)

Just wanted to share with you my new line of Tote bags: Big Ass Totes!

I'm not kidding, these are seriously big ass tote bags! Don't let the cute fabric prints fool ya, this is a bag with attitude that will hold all your loot and booty!

The obvious: Yup, I use very cute and trendy fabric prints (it's 100% cotton) and it has a cool band and bow on the front. It's lined with a solid color 100% cotton fabric, and has some cool pockets. One divided pocket that holds cell phone, pens and keys, and one large pocket that holds a whole bunch of other cool stuff. It has super sturdy handles that aren't going anywhere that you don't go. Oh, and it has a magnetic snap so nobody snoops inside.

The not so obvious: I use a majorly intense interfacing (double layers) that makes this one stiff and sturdy bag. This puppy won't fall over, sag or droop. Honest!!

Measurements: 11" across the bottom, 17" across the top, 14" tall, and 4" deep, with an 11" handle drop. (I told ya it was big!)

Bonus: I make a cute little cosmetics pouches that match each one of these big totes and they are sold separately. However, if you purchase both the tote bag and the matching cosmetics pouch together (in the same transaction), I'll give you a 10% refund of your total price (except for shipping) via paypal.

Start stocking up for Christmas now!!!

Happy Shopping,

Featuring! ~ Fellow Etsy Artisan "CricketsCreations"

I am pleased to bring you the next installment in my series "Featuring!", and am happy to introduce you to one of my favorite Etsy friends, Celeste of Cricket's Creations.

Enjoy!

From Crickets Creations' Etsy Bio: My name is Celeste (Crickets is my nickname). I am very blessed; my fulltime career and sole source of income is designing & crafting unique, handmade fiber art scarves, blankets and photo props from vintage & novelty yarns. I create my own and my customers' ideas without guidance from patterns and each piece is a quality, Crickets original!

How long have you been selling on Etsy, and what do you sell?

My online boutique for handmade, original, men's and women's fashion accessory scarves & Fringie™ newborn baby photo props has been shipping my designs worldwide since November 26, 2007 (just over 2 years).

What do like most about being an independent artist/seller?

Ha! I love almost every aspect of being an indie artist! My most favorite things are getting to design new pieces and helping customers narrow down their choices; I love playing personal shopper!

What do like least about being an independent artist/seller?

Taxes and fear of being audited--yuck!

Tell us about your single most positive/unique/fun Etsy (seller) experience?

I'm so excited that 11 of my scarves were at the Olympic 2010 Winter Games!!

What one piece of info/advice do you wish someone had told you, the day before you opened shop on Etsy?

Sometimes I wish I had of played my cards a bit closer to my chest; I was very open with advice and help for others and now I have a bunch of imitators. I wanted them to be successful as I am....some wanted to BE me!

Where or how do you market your Etsy Shop/s?

I'm more at these places to make friends and support my peers:

http://cricketscreations.blogspot.com
http://twitter.com/CricketsKnits
http://www.flickr.com/cricketscreations
http://www.facebook.com/celeste.meyeres

What is your favorite single item that you make (the one you hate to part with)?

I am always happy when an item goes to a new home, I feel like a proud parent watching my child graduate and start a new life! Also, I can't decide on a single fave, that's why I have 250+ scarf and photo prop designs in my shop, tee hee. ;)

These days I have been a bit blanket obsessed, they are so fun to make! Here's one that I love:

And last but not least (quick short answers) - what is your favorite color, your favorite song, your favorite food, and your favorite day of the week?

My favorite color is orange.
My favorite song is Feelin' Good performed by Nina Simone
My favorite food...Wow! Can't pick. Mayonnaise??
Sunday is my favorite day of the week because post office is closed so instead of filling orders, I can create new designs and/or get ahead on inventory!

Be sure to stop by Cricket's Creations on Etsy!  You'll be glad you did.  :o)
