I need your vote!!

I need your vote.  OK, actually it is not for me personally, but for my grandson Charlie.  I entered him in picture contest on  We love Sportkilt - they make the best kilts, reasonably priced, and washable!!  Fabulous product.

The contest is for a custom kilt, and Charlie could use a new one, and really wants to win.  The photo contest is "Sports", so I entered the picture you see of Charlie here.  Now, how does this relate to "sports", you ask?  Well, here is the photo caption:  "Charlie's favorite sport is playing the drums and looking at girls, both of which he is doing here!"

So, please click on the link to the Sportkilt site - scroll down to the bottom of the page - look for Charlie's picture (same as this one) - and click on 5 stars.

Thank you all for your support!!!!!!!  You are the best.  ;o)

Heading to the airport!

My charming grandson, Charlie is arriving tomorrow for his summer visit! It's been almost a year since I last had him here, and I can't wait to see him. It's been hard on us all since our daughter and he moved to Ohio 3 years ago, so these visits are incredibly wonderful for us! Boy do I have some grandson spoiling to do!! (Baking lots of cookies and cupcakes today - and making his favorite Chicken enchiladas for dinner tomorrow night!)

Between the beach and the pool at our new house, we'll be spending a lot of time in the water!  We also have our yearly weekend at the San Diego Highland Games.  We have so much fun at the games!!  I'll share some more of our pictures later in the month.

So if I seem a little preoccupied - it's cause I'm busy being a grandma!

With Summer almost here, a retro Summer recipe!

I decorated my blog and Etsy shops for summer with some beautiful plumerias.  I love the smell of plumerias and just couldn't resist!  I hope you enjoy their beauty.

With summer on my mind, I had a longing for a summer treat my grandmother and I used to bake.  I spent a lot of time at her house in the summers, and this was something she would actually let me make!  It's called "Dump Cake".  It's take just a few minutes to put together, and will surely become a favorite of your family too!

Dump Cake

This recipe is designed for kids to bake. It's incredibly easy with no mixing involved. Canned fruits are dumped into a baking pan, topped with cake mix, butter, coconut and nuts, then baked. The result is something in between a cake and a cobbler, and amazingly delicious. Adults will also love this recipe.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

1 (20 ounces) can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 (21 ounces) can prepared more fruit cherry pie filling
1 (18.25 ounces) box yellow cake mix
1.5 sticks of melted butter or margarine
1 Cup of flaked unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup chopped nuts (your choice - optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (325 for glass baking dish). Have a 9 by 13-inch baking pan ready, either greased or sprayed with Pam.

First, open can of crushed pineapple and "dump" in the prepared baking dish.

Next, dump in the can of cherry pie filling.

Next, dump in the package of cake mix.

Next, drizzle on the melted butter.

Next, sprinkle on the coconut.

Then sprinkle on the nuts.

Pop in the preheated oven and bake 1 hour.

Viola!  Dump cake.  Serve it plain or with ice cream and enjoy!!

Chocolate, Vanilla or perhaps Strawberry? #etteam treasury

I'm sharing my latest Etsy Treasury East with you.  I was inspired by some Neapolitan ice cream we had for desert last night.  *grin*  I love the colors of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry and decided to find some lovley handmade and vintage Etsy goodies to fill my fun treasury that embody those colors.  So here you are.  And below are listed the wonderful Etsy shops they come from.  If you have a minute would you click on the treasury pic here and leave me a comments on the actual treasury?  Thanks in advance.
