It's good to share!

One of the best things that can happen to your next blog post, is to have it go viral. Regardless of the content, to have it read by hundreds or thousands of people is really cool! The tough part about that, is getting it to happen.

For me being an Etsy seller, marketing my goods is very time consuming. And like everyone these days, I'm always scrambling to find time to "promote" what I do. I have 3 Etsy shops, a facebook page, a Twitter account and a blog. Besides that I need to find time to make my items for my shops (knit, sew, etc.), and still cook a meal or two! It is always wonderful when someone "retweets", posts to facebook or blogs about something I've said (or one of my creations). It gets the word out for me (which I'm deeply grateful for), and certainly helps me with my time management issues. Now if I could only find a way to make it easier for someone to promote me and my stuff. Hmmmmm?

Well, I did find a cool tool (bar) that helps!  Last week I stumbled across Wibiya. What's Wibya, you ask?? Well, look down at the bottom of this very page that you are on now. You'll see a toolbar. That's Wibyia!! And I think it is fabulous!

From Wibyia site: "Wibiya provides an interactive and user-friendly web toolbar that allows you to integrate a host of web applications directly onto your website. The Wibar web toolbar has many advantages, allowing you to add features and tools for your website’s visitors to use without leaving the page. This will promote your website’s content, while increasing time spent on your website and the interest your website generates. Add web applications such as live notifications, itranslation, 3D photo galleries, a direct facebook and twitter connection, smart shares and much, much more. The Wibar web toolbar gives you access to these applications from a single custom toolbar that will appear on the bottom of your web page. You can also become a fan of Wibiya (on facebook) and receive regular updates on new applications and events."

One of my favorite features is that it integrates Facebook and Twiter with your blog. Adding the tool bar will enable your readers to tweet and write to your Facebook Fan Page (or theirs) from your website and share your content. It will also provide a full Twitter experience including Search, Latest tweets, Tweets about each page and more. There is also a link to bring your Facebook Fan Page stream to your website and grow your number of facebook fans.  Wibiya helps you to engage readers and raise page views with apps such as Latest Posts, Real Time Users, etc. It helps you to gain traffic from social networking and track your traffic growth through simple analytics tools.

Take a few minutes and browse the little tool bar below, and you can see all the fabulous apps I've added to my tool bar to make it easy for my readers to interact and stay on my blog longer.  One of my fav Wibiya apps is "Photo Gallery".  See the little blue circle - click on it, and it allows you to see all my Etsy photos from Flickr.  Isn't that cool!!  Another fun thing, mouse over any picture in a blog post - it automatically offers for you to "share" (smart share) with options of whichever social media you choose as well as email and "print this out".

Wibiya is super easy to install.  I works on all blog platforms, and will walk you through the process of adding it to your blog.  I gotta say, Wibiya was just too cool to keep to myself, so I'm sharing. ;o) I hope you find it as fun and helpful as I have!  Now, what are you waiting for, head on over to Wibiya and download the toolbar for your blog!!

Featuring! ~ Fellow Etsy Artisan "TrendieTreasures"

I am pleased to bring you the next installment in my series "Featuring!", and am happy to introduce you to Reema and her Etsy Shop Trendie Treasures.

Enjoy!

From TrendieTreasure's Etsy Bio: Hi, I'm Reema. I grew up with fabrics all around me in my mom’s boutique. Now, I’m mother of two kids, love to design for my 5 yr old daughter. I like designs to capture different moments of life, often inspired by kids themselves and their lively nature, leaving a bit of space for the quality fabric to be admired. My mom helps me give shape to my designs, and bring out the best in what I’ve visualized.  This is what I always wanted to do.. have my own line of handcrafted clothing, accessories and all beautiful things I can imagine…Thanks to Etsy, I’ve been able to make it happen.

How long have you been selling on Etsy, and what do you sell?
I'm relatively new to Etsy, although I opened my shop in late October last year, I've actively started crafting and selling early this year.

What do like most about being an independent artist/seller?
The most I like is that I'm my own boss, I decide what i create and love it that way!!

What do like least about being an independent artist/seller?
Book keeping is one thing that simply doesn't interest me, unfortunately I do have to maintain records and file taxes too.  :(

Tell us about your single most positive/unique/fun Etsy (seller) experience?
One day, when i was photo shooting in the park for my new designs, a little 4 yr old girl walked upto my model and said "I love your dress!!" and when I told her mom about my shop at Etsy, she jumped and wanted to get to Etsy website on her Blackberry to see all of my designs...it was fun! She even offered her daughter to be model for my designs... It just feels great when you get such a overwhelming response from a stranger in a park.

What one piece of info/advice do you wish someone had told you, the day before you opened shop on Etsy?
When I opened my shop, I didn't know that it would entail a great deal of social networking on sites I've never heard before...now, that I've gotten in deeper I'm enjoying it with all the Etsy teams and social networks.   I've learned a lot about online business and still have a long way to go. Just didn't expect all of this before I had opened my shop on Etsy, I was an artist who loved to create new designs living in my small little world.  :)

Where or how do you market your Etsy Shop/s?
I'm member of Etsy Treasury Team and Etsy Kids team, and actively participate in the promotions held by Etsy or the teams. I've been featured on Spring catalogue by Etsy kids team - http://etsykids.com/Kids.html .

I promote my items through Facebook fan page and also on Twitter. I create Treasuries to gain some exposure and I've been featured on various treasuries by my teammates as well. Occassionally, I use Showcase spots offered by Etsy. Also, I've gained some exposure using Kaboodle as well recently.

What is your favorite single item that you make (the one you hate to part with)?
The linen drapes with brown velvet damask print I created is one item I fell in love with and would hate to part with. The look and feel of this fabric is so good, as it has the base of linen which i love and color combo is just perfect, the design of tie top with tussels has added a touch of handmade details... I only have the fabric for one set and no more.

And last but not least (quick short answers) - what is your favorite color, your favorite song, your favorite food, and your favorite day of the week?
Color -- I love the beauty of "White"
Song -- "My heart will go on" from Titanic
Food -- Lasagnia
Day -- Friday of course :)

Mango Margarita

1-ounce triple sec

2 ounces simple syrup or sweet-and-sour mix
3/4 cup frozen mango, unsweetened (prefer individual quick frozen or fresh) - I get mine at Trader Joes!
