With Summer almost here, a retro Summer recipe!

I decorated my blog and Etsy shops for summer with some beautiful plumerias.  I love the smell of plumerias and just couldn't resist!  I hope you enjoy their beauty.

With summer on my mind, I had a longing for a summer treat my grandmother and I used to bake.  I spent a lot of time at her house in the summers, and this was something she would actually let me make!  It's called "Dump Cake".  It's take just a few minutes to put together, and will surely become a favorite of your family too!

Dump Cake

This recipe is designed for kids to bake. It's incredibly easy with no mixing involved. Canned fruits are dumped into a baking pan, topped with cake mix, butter, coconut and nuts, then baked. The result is something in between a cake and a cobbler, and amazingly delicious. Adults will also love this recipe.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

1 (20 ounces) can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 (21 ounces) can prepared more fruit cherry pie filling
1 (18.25 ounces) box yellow cake mix
1.5 sticks of melted butter or margarine
1 Cup of flaked unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup chopped nuts (your choice - optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (325 for glass baking dish). Have a 9 by 13-inch baking pan ready, either greased or sprayed with Pam.

First, open can of crushed pineapple and "dump" in the prepared baking dish.

Next, dump in the can of cherry pie filling.

Next, dump in the package of cake mix.

Next, drizzle on the melted butter.

Next, sprinkle on the coconut.

Then sprinkle on the nuts.

Pop in the preheated oven and bake 1 hour.

Viola!  Dump cake.  Serve it plain or with ice cream and enjoy!!
