Featuring! ~ Fellow Etsy Artisan Originals by Lauren

This is the 2nd in my new series of features on some fabulous fellow Etsy Artisans.  I hope you enjoy learning more about some incredibly talented people in the indie artist community!   ~ Sandie

Originals by Lauren

From her Etsy Profile:

"I have been sewing since the age of 11 and have had a dressmaking and alterations business for 20 years. Etsy gives me a chance to be creative and try new things. I love to sew and make everything in my shop myself. Most are my designs and many are one of a kind. I am also a silversmith, and have a few items listed here. All are original designs, one of a kind, and made with quality materials."

How long have you been selling on Etsy, and what do you sell?
"I joined Etsy May 1, 2008, and started listing things 3 weeks later."

What do like most about being an independent artist/seller?
"I enjoy the creative outlet Etsy gives me. I have a dressmaking and alterations business out of my home, and Etsy allows me to make the things that I want to make, instead of only what people want me to make. "

What do like least about being an independent artist/seller?

"The thing I like the least is not being able to depend on a regular income."

Tell us about your single most positive/unique/fun Etsy (seller) experience?
"I think the best experience I had here was joining a local team, because many of us have met in person and become friends."

What one piece of info/advice do you wish someone had told you, the day before you opened shop on Etsy?

"I wish I knew how much work it would be to drive customers to my shop."

Where and/or how do you market your Etsy Shop?

"I tons of re-listing on Etsy, and I tweet my new listings on Twitter.  I'm not on facebook, but I do list my shop on as many sites as possible.  I've not had muck luck with advertising, but I am still looking."

What is your favorite single item that you make (the one you hate to part with)?
"I love my quilts!  Each one is different and unique."

And last but not least - what is your favorite color, favorite song, favorite food, and favorite day of the week?
"Green
anything by Neil Young
Pasta with Marinara Sauce
Wednesday"
