Facebook now links to Twitter

Just added to facebook is a new feed that will automatically post to Twitter any facebook update you make. I actually like this better for me, because most of my business updates I post to my facebook fan page first, so this will automatically Tweet those updates to my Twitter Page.

facebook rocks!!

If you would like to do this yourself, log in to your facebook account. Then go to this page, http://www.facebook.com/twitter/. It asks if you would like to link your facebook to Twitter, you agree to give facebook access to your Twitter account, and then Viola!

Definitely saves time and energy.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Twitter, Facebook & Social Networking for Online Sellers

Social networking is huge now. Really huge! And it is important to take advantage of that fact if you are an online seller. You can attract a lot of business to your online shop through social networking.

If you have an online shop (like Etsy), you probably figured out that your potential buyers want to get to know you. And for that reason, if you are anything like me, you're probably involved in a lot of online social networking. Since it takes a lot of time to post updates to all these networks, I needed a way to be more efficient with my online shop promotion. It makes sense to have all your social networks connected so that you only have to update once and the same information shows up everywhere. So let's get some of your social networks connected so you can be more efficient with your time as well and have them all update with the same information.

For example, the way I have my social networks work set up, is this: When I post a new blog, post a new photo to flickr, and even when I list a new item in my Etsy shop a post is sent to my Twitter. That Twitter post in turn is sent to facebook. This helps me cut down on time spent trying to be sure that when I blog, post to flickr, or update my etsy shop I don’t have to go crazy (and wasting a lot of time) trying to get it posted to Twitter and facebook. So, how did I accomplish this?

Well, let's start with assuming you have Twitter, facebook, a blog, and anything else with an RSS feed.

To hook up your Twitter account so that it automatically sends updates your facebook page, use the following steps:

1. Install the twitter application on facebook. Visit the following link application for facebook. http://apps.facebook.com/twitter/

Go to application, click allow, login to Twitter with your Twitter login information. Your page will then look like a facebook style Twitter page. At the top click on “allow Twitter to update facebook…” and you should be done.

Test it out. Post a cool update on your Twitter page and then check your facebook page. Did it post to facebook? Yeah!!!!!

2. Okay now on to setting it so that your blog, flickr, any place that has an RSS feed for you will update Twitter.

Next, go to TwitterFeed http://twitterfeed.com/ and sign up for an account. Be sure to note your password and user name.

Now you might want to have several windows or tabs open with your places you want to list here; whether it is your blog, flickr, Etsy Shop, or really any place that has an RSS feed for you.

Now you want to create a new feed for each of the places you will want to feed to Twitter.

Make each feed one at a time, and give each feed a different name.

You want to go to your blog (or where ever you’re snagging your feed from) and snag your RSS feed link. Use your feedburner link if you can. Find the link that you want to use, and copy that link. Now you can paste that link over at TwitterFeed.

I have noticed that some blogger templates (incase you are using a background template) remove the "subscribe to" posts link at the bottom of the posts section. If this happens then test out the following with your blogger link.

http://YOURBLOGGERLINK HERE.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

Once you have done this can edit your settings. You can add a little prefix {blog} or {flickr} or {etsy} what ever you want to do. It's up to you

When you’re done hit update.

Then continue to set up each feed to Twitter on TwitterFeed. You should then be connected. Try making a blog post, upload a photo, or list something in your Etsy shop and wait to check it out on Twitter and then facebook.

If you have any questions, just holler and I'll do my best to help. :o)

Yes, Michele, it is "Just another manic Monday"!

My online friend, Michele from By Your Side, sent me a note this morning, that led me to her blog. Her blog update for today was titled, "Just another manic Monday". So in my title for this post, I am sincerely agreeing with her. ;o) (Michele makes some very lovely handbags and other accessories. Be sure to stop by her blog and check out her creations.)

In her blog, Michele "tagged me" and sent me a blog award. The award states that you give 10 facts about yourself and “tag” 10 fellow bloggers.

I will now share with you my 10 facts - how interesting they are will be left up to you. :o)

2. I'm Scottish. (OK so most of you probably know that about me.) And like most Scots I'm very proud of my heritage. We are members of the clan MacGregor society, and love going to the Highland Games to partake of all things Scottish. (This pic is of the grandson and me on our way to the games, wearing our MacGregor tartans.)

3. I am ridiculously hooked on playing the games on facebook, like; Pirates, Farmtown and Bejeweled Blitz.

6. I've have been on the following television shows: Leeza (Leeza Gibbons), 48 Hours (CBS news show), 20/20 (ABC news show), Sally Jessy Raphael, Oprah and quite a few others.

7. One of my hobbies is growing my hair. I have have very long hair. 42 inches long to be exact. I collect pretty hair sticks and haircombs - and love trying all kinds of different updos. I also have a tattoo of a hibiscus on my left hand and 8 piercings in my ears.

8. My first date with my husband was a disaster. I had planned to never see him again - but his patience and persistence won out, and we have been happily together for over 16 years.

9. I used to be a professional drummer. Yup. I made my living for many years as a musician and vocalist.

10. I learned to sew, knit and bead when I was quite young, but never expected I would be using those talents to earn a living. I must admit that at this point in my life, I am really enjoying it. Working at home and using my creative talents is a very fulfilling thing!

Look what I won!

My good friend Krystal (of Solsisters, and the CABTeam) has a lovely sister, Kim, who owns a fabulous online cosmetics company, Overall Beauty. The other day while I was hanging out on facebook and Twitter, Kim posted a quick trivia question, that I answered correctly - and I won some fabulous nail polish from her BBCouture line called "Diamond Dust". It arrived in the mail yesterday, and wow, is it gorgeous!!

I tend to love light frosted colors so this is just perfect for me. But better than your average frosted polish - this gorgeous polish looks like the name suggests, and appears to be packed with diamond dust! It sparkles like no other polish I've tried, and I've tried a bunch. It went on smooth, dried nicely and looks like a million bucks! It is somewhere between a clear and clear/white color with little iridescent sparkles throughout. I also noticed that beside wearing it by itself, you can also put it on over a plain color (or dark color) to add some serious pizzaz without changing the original color.

Kim also threw in a few samples of some other of her products that I am anxious to try! Thanks Kim for the fabulous polish, and I will be definitely be ordering more colors from you soon! If you are looking for some fabulous new nail polish - be sure to click on over to Overall Beauty and check out their BBCouture line. I highly recommend it!

Playing around in the Pumpkin Patch!

I know it's a little hard to be thinking about Halloween when summer isn't over yet, and you haven't even gotten the kids ready for back to school! But for us Etsy folks, Halloween is already on our radar. :o)

I spent the afternoon playing in my "pumpkin patch" of beads, and halloween goodies so that I could prepare all my Halloween jewelry to be listed in my Zaftig Delights Etsy shop. These little Jack-o-lantern earrings are a particular favorite of my mine, just because their little faces are so cute! These will be offered in several different metals, and with different colored accent beads.

I've also listed several Halloween Charm Bracelets that are a lot of fun!! I will also be adding more spooky, creepy and witchy goodies for all your Halloween pleasures over the next few weeks, so be sure to check my Etsy shop often!

The Perfect Pouch

I love these little bags! I call them "The Perfect Pouch", and they are a new item that I am carrying in my KnitzyBlonde Etsy shop. We have them in 2 sizes, regular and large, and they come with a flat bottom, a zip top, and and wrist strap. The wrist strap and inside fabric match and are a complimentary fabric to the outside.

The large size (seen below) measures 8.5" x 5" x 2" - and is a great size to use as a small purse, wristlet. It will hold your essentials, cell phone, keys, credit cards, cash and a lipstick or two. This also works as a large make-up or cosmetics case/bag.
The small size (seen below) measures 6" x 4" x 1.5" - and is a great size to use as a small make-up or cosmetics case/bag, or great for your Nintendo DS, or other electronic gadgets.

These pouches are all made from 100% cotton fabric, with a strong YKK zipper, and I've used medium heavy weight interfacing in these pouches to make them sturdy and durable. If you have any special color requests, be sure to let me know, as I'll be adding a lot more over the next few weeks.
