One Lovely Day!!

Imagine my surprise when my week was made much brighter by Michele at By Your Side! She has passed on the “One Lovely Blog Award” to me! Thank you, Michele, it’s nice to know you enjoy my Zaftig Delights ~ Knitzy Blonde blog!

So, the rules are:

  1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.
  2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered.
  3. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
Also, I can’t pass it back to the person that awarded it to me, but Michele’s By your Side Blog would definitely be on my list (if I could)!!! However, these are my choice of fifteen blogs (in alphabetical order):

Have a fabulous week everyone!!

#Follow Friday on Twitter

I love Twitter!  I enjoy meeting new people, networking and sharing with other some of the great things I find on the internet.  Twitter brings incredible opportunities to reach out people and promote yourself, others, business, or just about anything.

Every time I log onto Twitter it seems like there is something new to learn.  Twitter Memes are the latest trends, activities or sayings associated with Twitter. It could be something you do individually (like the “3 things you don’t know about me”), or things that have grown up around Twitter that make it more useful (Retweets and Hashtags are just two examples), or maybe even something people do as a group for fun.

One of the most popular Twitter Memes is Follow Friday (#followfriday). It is where people on Twitter suggest other Twitter users to follow, each Friday. It's fun to recommend someone whose tweets you enjoy or find helpful.   One problem however is inevitably you are going to leave out, or NOT suggest someone, who might then feel bad.  So, is there a way to make it fair and not have people feeling overlooked?

I asked some other Twitterers what they think, and here were their suggestions:

  • Opt out - Just don’t get involved
  • Categorize - So perhaps you would have “CraftyTwitters” or “TwitterKnitters”
  • Only new Twits - Recommend the people from the last week who made an impact
  • Helpful Twits - People who helped you especially this week
  • Most interactive - Suggest people who had the most conversations with you

I'd love to know what do you think, or how do you do Follow Friday? Do you have any other suggestions?  Please share your comments here or over at Twitter.  :o)

Knitwear for Babies!

I've been having such fun lately adding to the knitwear that I carry in my KnitzyBlonde Etsy Shop.  I had been wanting to add more unique and fun knits - and believe me, one of the most fun knit projects you can do is a baby item.  Knitting for babies is a wonderful way of honoring how adorable and unique they are.  And, because projects for babies tend to be pretty small, it's a great opportunity to try out a new yarn or stitch without a major investment in time or money.

Being a grandma myself, I know that babies need to be changed a lot. They spit up, have diaper blow outs, and can be messy eaters. So it was important to me that all my baby knits are easily washable.  Every baby item that I make is either 100% cotton, or a Cotton/Acrylic blend that is easily machine washable (on low knit cycle).

Right now I have quite a few different styles of baby hats that can all be customized in colors and sizes.  I will be adding blankets, sweaters and socks/booties soon.

If you are looking for a cute baby gift for someone (or even your own little one), I hope you will stop by KnitzyBlonde and check out my cute new line of baby knits!
